introductionHello parents!! We would like to extend a big warm Welcome Back. The new year stood before us like a new chapter in a book, waiting to be written. Time flies when you are having fun… stands true for your little ones. All the students loved coming back to online classes after a refreshing winter break. They couldn’t hold the excitement and eagerly shared thrilling adventures and their new year resolutions. It was clear that they enjoyed their winter break to the fullest and were ready to get back into the school routine. Our youngsters were all set to acquire some crucial “pre-skills” while playing, singing, listening, interacting, and observing which is part of the Quality Circle Time. The educators created awareness about Universal Value “I am Truthful” and Republic Day. Students were made aware of the Indian Constitution and its importance in our lives. Republic day"We must stand on our own feet and fight as best as we can for our rights. So carry on your agitation and organize your forces. Power and prestige will come to you through struggle” - Shri B.R. Ambedkar Our school marked the 73rd Republic Day by conducting a special assembly across Grades Pre Nursery - IX with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The assembly commenced with flag unfurling ceremony in our school grounds. Post that, rest of the assembly was conducted virtually and the reading of the Constitution, learning the significance of the Preamble, apprising students about the contribution made by Sh. B.R. Ambedkar and facts about the Constitution of India were the highlights of the assembly. Students of Grade I took pride in the legacy of our freedom fighters, dressed up as them, and reverberated their message by chanting their famous slogans. Our seniors, the students of Grade V & VI enthralled the audience with their mellifluous patriotic songs. Keeping the spirit of patriotism alive, Grade VII-VIII students expressed love for their motherland through self created short videos. The assembly concluded with the address of Principal, Ms. Guneet Ohri who emphasised on understanding and implementing the Preamble in its true sense. She urged the students to put their best foot forward and feel proud to be an Indian. They dispersed with the image of the fluttering tricolor in their mind and heart. May we continue celebrating this day forever! JAI HIND! ENGLISHIntroducing new reading techniques-such as close reading was conducted with the help of a poem-Unit-14 ‘A Dragon in the Classroom’ with students’ focus on recognising rhyming words, nouns, etc, along with gaining the understanding of recycling and reusing old objects to create innovative things. Discussion of the comprehension questions were carried out by using MS Teams chat box where students wrote their responses in the chat window. This was followed by a revision of similar meaning words (Synonyms) and Punctuation Round-up by way of exercises. Students enthusiastically participated in ‘Design a Dragon’ activity wherein they creatively designed their mystical dragons recycling waste materials like old wires, old CDs, cardboard boxes, broken toys, used paper, newspaper etc. Every student donned the hat of a poet and recited a self-composed poem on the ‘Dragon’ using rhyming words and describing words. The monthly theme- Seasons and Festivals was amalgamated with the topic – Questions. The students were divided into two groups-questioning group and answering group. They framed questions based on a picture and text related to the festival of Pongal. The educator facilitated the process by writing the questions on the screen and correcting wherever required. They have also indulged in rechecking their speaking skills by way of reading and speaking activities where they recorded themselves reciting extracts from the chapters. Story mapping using a graphic organizer of their choice, based on their reading of the Chapter- ‘A Clever Crab’ from Treasure of Tales (Supplementary reader), was another fun revision activity conducted this month. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlPExNPyPwQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fwbwmvs0rOs MATHSStudents understood additional fractions as operators on discrete and continuous quantities by solving problems using shapes, objects and quantities.
